I Berhad

view:  www.i-city.my

Property  Tourism

I-Berhad was established on February 2, 1967 as Sanyo Industries (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on September 29, 1969. Over the next three decades the company operated as a branch of Sanyo Japan, focusing on the manufacture of electrical home appliances.
about
In 1999, Sumurwang acquired a controlling interest in the company and changed its name to I-Berhad. Following the adoption of a new vision of serving the Digital City, the Company moved from being a manufacturer of air-conditioners and digital products to become the leading Digital City developer.
The two major shareholders in I-Berhad today are Sumurwang with 59 % share and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) with 17%.

The Group’s first major foray into the Digital City was in 2005 with the commencement of i-City, an ICT-based urban development on a 72-acres freehold site along Federal Highway in Section 7, Shah Alam.
i-City is also a MSC Malaysia Cybercentre where ICT companies with MSC status can enjoy the various incentives offered under the MSC Malaysia Bill of Guarantee. It has been endorsed as the 1st Cybercentre in Selangor and declared as an International Park by the Selangor State Government where entertainment and other cosmopolitan lifestyle outlets are permitted to operate on a 24 X 7 basis. I-City is also a Tourist Destination with its City of Digital Lights, SnoWalk@i-City and various theme park rides being promoted by Tourism Malaysia and Tourism Selangor as the latest night spot in the Klang Valley.
Master planned by world-renowned and award-winning architect Jon A Jerde, i-City was designed as a fully integrated intelligent city, comprising a shopping mall, corporate office towers, Cybercentre office suites, hotels, apartments, data centre and innovation centre.
Although only 15 acres of the i-City land has been developed as at end of 2011, i-City is today recognized as a catalyst in the transformation of Shah Alam into an international City. Thus in 2011, under a Management and Development Agreement entered into between the State, Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam and i-City, the approved built-up area for i-City was increased to 12 million sq ft resulting in RM 3 billion Gross Development Value for the development. I-City was also designated as a gated and guarded community with i-City being responsible for all the township services.
The Group is also planning to develop i-Grand Residence@KLCC, a luxury/branded residences condominium project in the vicinity of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre as well as i-City South, a 7 acres data centre complex opposite the existing i-City site on the other side of the Federal Highway.

Background of Sumurwang

The history of Sumurwang is one of innovation and pioneering new ventures. Thus, it was the first to introduce the spring mattresses to the bedding industry in Malaysia in the early 80s. Then in 1984, it became the first Malaysian company to invest in China with the establishment of the Tianjin mattress plant. In the early 90s, it set-up the first integrated stainless steel pipe and fitting plant in Malaysia.
The history of Sumurwang is characterized by growth through strategic alliances. The strategic allies of Sumurwang included Pacific Dunlop of Australia for the spring mattress, Haworth of USA for its office furniture as well as various partners for all its investments in China ranging from spring mattresses, air-conditioners, steel wire ropes and an independent power plant. Then in the development of i-City, ServCorp Ltd of Australia and Cisco were its ally in offering IP-based network services and applications to the tenants of i-City. Sumurwang’s history with PNB dates back to its mattress days from the 80s.

Latex Glove

view: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_glove

Medical gloves are disposable gloves used during medical examinations and procedures that help prevent contamination between caregivers and patients.[1]

Medical gloves are made of different polymers including latex, nitrile rubbervinyl and neoprene; they come unpowdered, or powdered with cornstarch to lubricate the gloves, making them easier to put on the hands.[2] Cornstarch replaced tissue-irritating Lycopodium powder and talc, but since even cornstarch can impede healing if it gets into tissues (as during surgery), unpowdered gloves are being used more often during surgery and other sensitive procedures. Special manufacturing processes are used to compensate for the lack of powder.

There are two main types of gloves: exam and surgical.

Surgical gloves have more precise sizing with a better precision and sensitivity and are made to a higher standard.

Due to the increasing rate of latex allergy among health professionals, and in the general population, gloves made of non-latex materials such as vinyl, nitrile rubber or neoprene have become widely used. Chemical processes may be employed to reduce the amount of antigenic protein in Hevea latex, resulting in alternative natural-rubber-based materials such Vytex Natural Rubber Latex. However, non-latex gloves have not yet replaced latex gloves in surgical procedures, as gloves made of alternative materials generally do not fully match the fine control or greater sensitivity to touch available with latex surgical gloves. (High-grade Isoprene gloves are the only exception to this rule, as they have the same chemical structure as natural latex rubber. However, fully artificial polyisoprene—rather than 'hypoallergenic' cleaned natural latex rubber[9]--is also the most expensive natural latex substitute available.[10]) Other high-grade non-latex gloves, such as nitrile gloves, can cost over twice the price of their latex counterparts, a fact that has often prevented switching to these alternative materials in cost-sensitive environments, such as many hospitals.[11]

Historical background

The Supermax Group was founded by Dato' Seri Stanley Thai and his wife Datin Seri Cheryl Tan in 1987 as a trading business distributing latex gloves.   in 1989, they started their first manufacturing facility with just a small team of committed and dedicated employees. With a business foresight and in answering the Government’s call to brand Malaysian products, Supermax ventured into own brand manufacturing and became the first OBM (own brand manufacturing) latex glove manufacturer in Malaysia when it launched its first brand, Supermax.
